How To Make Nonstick Cooking Spray

Why buy expensive cooking spray when you can make one at home? Reach in your cabinet and make your own homemade cooking spray. Here are a few ways to make it at home.

1) For non-stick cookware

You will need:
1 Spray bottle
Olive oil or vegetable oil

Fill the spray bottle with olive oil or vegetable oil. Use it as a non-stick spray for cookware that has non-stick coating.


2) For cookware with no non-stick coating

You will need:
Cook N Home 7 Piece Stainless Steel Cookware Set1 Spray bottle
Liquid lecithin (Can be purchased at health food stores)
Vegetable oil

Mix together equal parts of liquid lecithin and vegetable oil and pour it into a spray bottle. Shake well and use it to prevent food from sticking to pots and pans with surfaces that have no non-stick coating like enamels, copper and stainless steel cookware.


3) For Baking Tray / Cake Tin

You will need:
Vegetable oil
Vegetable shortening
Flour
Airtight container

Beat together equal parts vegetable oil, vegetable shortening and flour with a whisk until smooth. Refrigerate the mixture in an airtight container. Stir it well before use.  Make sure to use the pastry brush to coat evenly baking tray or cake tin when you are ready to bake.

Tip: Extra virgin olive oil is the purest oil and contains the highest monounsaturated fat content.
